Purpose. Why Are You Here?

Knowing your purpose is an important factor in achieving a  fulfilled  life.

I gave a talk recently on discovering potentials and looking back at myself two years I would have laughed if anyone had told me I would give a talk let alone on potentials. My laughter would have been caused by me not knowing what I wanted to do.

Two years ago I was stuck at a job I disliked, was pessimistic and  was scared of leaving my comfort zone. Little wonder I was stuck at a place I did not want to be, doing what I did not like.

However, my perception changed when I took a leap of faith, believed in myself and found my purpose. While I am not where I want to be yet, I am sure I’m on the right part.

At some point in our lives, some of us begin to want more from life than earning a monthly salary. We want to change the world or travel around the world. Some of us just want to wake up feeling energized each morning instead of looking in the mirror and feeling so empty.

Sometimes, the way to solve the emptiness that hits us is to find our purpose.

Here is What Society Says

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. Mark Twain

Go to college, get good grades, get a job and settle down. Quite straight forward right and comfortable too. The straight and comfortable is the road to average that most of the world takes and can be said to be the reason most people are average and ordinary.

While some people are alright with being average, if you’re anything like me following this part will have you waking up each morning feeling there’s something you should be doing but you don’t really know what it is.

So How Do You Find Your Purpose In This Life?

There are lots of articles online stating how to find one’s purpose, they may work and they may not. I haven’t tried them so I would not say for sure. Anyway, what I know is when you find your purpose you will feel much more fulfilled and happy. You’d probably make more money than you’re doing now.

I found my purpose by doing the thing I love, which is writing about what I want. I simply located my purpose by doing the one thing I enjoyed doing as a child before was told to become serious. Serious being “get a job and earn to pay bills” Getting a job led me to taking up a job I was not happy with which left me literally brain dead within 3 months.

You can find your pupose by answering these questions

  • What makes you happy?
  • What would you do for free?
  • What did you love doing as a child?
  • If you had $10 million dollars and 10 years to live what would you do?

Do try these steps and share what you arrived at and if you’ve found your purpose already tell me how you found it. Let’s learn from you. Find your purpose in life you can never tell where it will lead you to.

Love and Light.
